| 1 - Crowding Teeth |
2 - Spacing |
| Crowding occurs when teeth have insufficient room to erupt from the gum. Crowding can often be corrected by expansion, and many times tooth removal can be avoided. |
Spacing problems may be caused by missing teeth, or by a "traumatic" or deep bite. |
| 3 - Open Bite |
4 - Deep Bite |
| An Open Bite is when the upper and bottom teeth do not touch properly and can be caused by a tongue thrust swallow pattern. |
The upper front teeth extend out over the lower front teeth, sometimes causing the lower front teeth to bite into the roof of the mouth (traumatic bite). |

A crossbite occurs when, anywhere in the mouth, the upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth instead of on the outside. |
| 7 - Protruding Overbite |
8 - Open Bite |
| Protrusion is characterized by the upper front teeth extending too far forward of the lower teeth, or by the lower jaw not having developed properly. |
