Invisalign straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners. They are virtually undetectable, which means hardly anyone will know that you're in the process of straightening your teeth!
How Invisalign Works
Once you have accepted Dr. Mooney’s recommendation to use Invisalign for your treatment, we will use our cutting edge iTero scanner to make 3D digital models of your mouth. This amazingly powerful scanning technology is contained in a wand small enough to easily fit in your mouth. Even better, the iTero scanner eliminates the need for the old style putty impressions. Next, Invisalign’s software uses that 3D model to create a series of clear, custom-fitted trays, called aligners.
You will wear a set of aligners day and night for about two weeks at a time. You can remove the aligners for eating, brushing, and flossing. Unlike braces, you will not have to set semi-monthly appointments with our O’Fallon orthodontist to have your brackets adjusted and tightened. Instead, after two weeks you can simply replace your aligners with the next set in the series. The total number of sets you will use depends on your treatment plan and the severity of your orthodontic problem. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will gradually move toward their final, straight positions.
Invisalign “clear braces” allow you to straighten your teeth discreetly without the hassle. Your new, straight smile will be achieved as effectively as with traditional metal braces, provided that you follow all of the guidelines provided by Dr. Mooney.
