At Mooney Orthodontics, we take pride in offering outstanding orthodontic care from the start of your treatment through its completion. After you have your braces or other orthodontic appliance removed, we want to make sure you are satisfied with the results. In order to achieve this, we also offer tooth stain removal and teeth whitening treatments for our post-braces patients.
What are the white spots on your teeth after braces?
White spots are often seen on teeth after braces are removed because it is much more difficult to keep teeth clean while braces are on. These white spots are usually found around the perimeter of where the bracket was attached to the tooth. This is an area where plaque accumulates, and without a diligent oral care regimen, some of it may be left behind when brushing. Orthodontic wires make access to the teeth more difficult, even for patients who are trying to do their best.
We are now using a unique combination of tooth bleaching material and re-mineralization to reverse the appearance of these white spots!

Before After
*Results are predictable, but vary with each patient*
In order to avoid having these white spots on your teeth, make sure that you maintain a regular oral hygiene routine at home and use the proper tools to clean every nook and cranny between your braces. Try following these steps:
- Use a soft-bristle toothbrush to make sure you are cleaning every corner of your teeth while lessening gum irritation.
- You should try and brush within 5 minutes after every meal for optimal results.
- An interdental toothbrush, or proxabrush, is another tool you can use in addition to brushing and flossing to clean those hard-to-reach nooks and crannies between your teeth and braces. It can be used to clean under wires and around the brackets.
